eBay Add Message To Shipping Confirmation Missing
UPDATE 6-25-23
eBay community staff have confirmed this is an intentional change.
I heard back from the Shipping Team on this and they said that this was removed intentionally. They do thank yourself and others for the feedback about your liking for this feature.
eBay sellers are missing functionality that allowed them to add a personalized message to buyers that would be sent along with the shipping confirmation email.
I was just printing a shipping label. The option to add a message to buyer is missing. Has anyone else noticed that? What a terrible idea. I will always let that buyer know that the label I am printing at midnight will be shipped the following day.
I leave the same message to all my buyers.
"MAHALO for your purchase!"
It used to remember/save that message but not anymore.
Is this a glitch or just how it is now? Anyone else?
I just noticed the same thing. I wish they would quit changing stuff that didn't need changing. There are PLENTY of other things they need to be working on, this wasn't one of them. I also add a thank you message to it every time I printed a label and it was there Saturday, the 17th because I printed a label then. I do remember when it could be saved, but the saving option hasn't been around for quite some time. I had to hard key it in every time.
For real, ebay, get with the program.
Yep.... poof and it's gone. Disappeared today and is replace with option to put your (very short) listing custom text field on the label. I keep private business information in that field. Sure don't want that on the label!
eBay does not even bother to tell anybody, sloppy at best! They just thought it would be easier to use an existing field for something else rather than create a new field for this new use. Happens all the time, not happy.
Not only is the option no longer available on the individual "buy shipping" page, it's also no longer possible to set a default message in the Manage Buyer Communications page of Seller Hub.
While eBay has not made an official announcement, that's a good indication this is likely an intentional change and not a temporary glitch.
Sellers of course can still send a separate message to the buyer through the eBay messaging system after an order is shipped but that requires extra steps and may not seem as professional as having it included directly with the shipment confirmation email.
One helpful seller suggested sellers who prefer to have this functionality may be able to replicate it using other shipping providers, like Pirate Ship.
Yes, it used to be that you could pre-program a note that would automatically be sent whenever you created a label. That seemed to have disappeared quite some time ago. Then it does appeared that you could add a note one at a time but the "pre-programmed automatically goes to everyone" message seems to be gone. I haven't used eBay labels for a while so I don't know if the one at a time even exists any more.
HOWEVER I use Pirateship for my labels (whole bunch of good reasons to do so). They do in fact have an option to add a preprogrammed message that will automatically be sent to everyone as it used to be.
Did you use this feature when purchasing eBay shipping labels? Will you consider buying labels outside of eBay without it? let us know in the comments below!
