eBay Australia Adds Zip Pay For BNPL, Dropping Afterpay?
eBay Australia has announced the addition of Zip Pay and and Zip Money as available Buy Now, Pay Later payment methods on the platform.
Zip Pay and Zip Money are now available as payment options for buyers on ebay.com.au, another way buyers can shop your items.
When buyers see the option to pay using Zip on eBay, they can log in to their existing Zip account or create a new one directly. There’s no change to how or when you get paid — you’ll still receive payment as usual when the order is confirmed. We’ll be running promotional launch activity over the next few weeks, so make sure your items are in stock to maximise your sales.
The announcement has some buyers wondering if this means eBay is dropping AfterPay, as the AfterPay option appears to have disappeared on listings which previously had it.
Hello Afterpay is not showing up in checkout as and options and can not showeing up in ebay.
Yeah Afterpay was working fine earlier with all items I was looking at. I actually had an item page open from about 2 hours ago that had Afterpay listed as an option but when I refreshed that page just now, Afterpay disappeared and it does not show up in the checkout for that item now either.
In fact, Afterpay is not showing up as a payment option for any item on ebay that I click on or try to checkout regardless of the category or price so there must be a fault with the payment system.
Yeah it's not working for me either, either on my own items or on other items I've previously looked at and which definitely had Afterpay as an option.
Might be something to do with the current Zip promotion?
Hi wat has happened afterpay I can’t use it when checking out have they been replaced with zip omg I don’t have zip pls help
I noticed this today as well. I can no longer see the Afterpay option but it seems to have been replaced with Zippay. I've been trying to find out if Zippay has replaced it & eBay has dumped Afterpay or if there's some glitch.
I've reached out to eBay to confirm if the Afterpay issue a technical problem or if the service is being discontinued and will update as soon as I have more info.
