eBay Blocking Collectible Stamps Due To Forever Stamp Restrictions
eBay sellers are reporting eBay is blocking their listings for collectible stamps due to a glitch that is applying Forever Stamp restrictions in error.
I have an online stamp store that I have been successfully selling on for about 3 month with no problems. Today I tried to relist and change a price on a set of stamps and I got an error message, "Because USPS Forever Stamps are commonly counterfeited, they may be sold by authorized sellers only. Unfortunately, you will not be able to list this item on eBay.{e143219-1233880x}
I am not trying to sell "Forever Stamps", these are old collectable stamps. Help! Chat did not offer much help.
I have seen some indication that others have been receiving the same message when listing non-Forever related collectible stamps. There may be some sort of problem with the screening program that is supposed to stop Forever stamps being listed.
I had posted some Internal Revenue Documentary Tax stamps, (used as a form of taxation for transaction mostly property up to the 1960's) these are a collectable item NOT A POSTAGE STAMP. I was just told that Ebay will not allow me to list "FOREVER" Postage stamps due to the ability to counterfeit these kind of stamps.
This tells me that no one at Ebay even took the time to check my listing they simply gave me the boot. I have found another sales site and will increase my business there. I try to understand the position that Ebay is in in the way of liability, but there was no attempt to contact me. Out of a 1-10 rating, my rating just went down a couple points from my last review of my satisfaction of Ebay. It would be nice if Ebay would respond to this issue directly to me.
I’m trying to sell some vintage stamps but not “authorized” due to wrongly identified as forever stamps. I see stamped just exactly like mine posted by others. I’m not an authorized stamp seller but these are vintage stamps and not fake forever stamps.
eBay is experiencing a technical issue with the stamps category.
You should report this to eBay customer service. The more reports they have helps the tech issue team figure out the problem.
eBay has had a long history of counterfiet USPS Forever Stamps being sold on the platform, so while it's good to hear they are taking steps to combat the fakes, it's disappointing but but surprising to hear technical issues are applying those restrictions incorrectly.
