eBay sellers noticed their Return Policy information has moved to a new place on the listing page this week, leaving them once again wondering if it's an unannounced change or a bug.

The topic came up in an unrelated conversation in the eBay community when a seller noticed return policy information in an odd place on another seller's listings.

Re: 2023 holiday selling season
Hope things go well for you in 2024.........just a quick question........are you putting your return policy in the description area or is it something new by Ebay?

The seller confirmed they had not intentionally changed anything to add return policy information under their item descriptions, instead of its usual place in the Shipping, Returns, and Payments tab.

Several other sellers confirmed they were also seeing Return Policy information moved under the description - for example:

Coincidentally, eBay has also quietly announced they have finalized the first phase of the redesign of the View Item page, which made sellers wonder if this new positioning for Return Policy information was part of the new design.

eBay community staff passed the question on to the appropriate team and a few days later, finally reported it has been confirmed as a bug, though no timeline has been provided for when this bug will be fixed.

Hello everyone, and thank you for your patience. The proper team has verified that this is indeed a bug and they are working to get this fixed.

As a buyer or seller, would you prefer to see Return Policy information under the description or should eBay keep it in a separate tab? Let us know in the comments below!

I noticed the same thing recently and tried to reach out to eBay through Twitter, but received no response. I don't really care where they put the return details, as long as they are shown, but if a tab says "returns," that would probably be a good place to put the return policy!

Hopefully this provision will survive through the Senate. I had previously written my Senator to support, unfortunately he responded that he does not support because repeal would add to deficit.

Should we all form a letter of demand with a class action lawsuit. This issue has been ongoing for many years without resolution till this day in 2025. We as sellers pay for our listings with a fee, if they are not shown in a listing, this is auction manipulation where buyers get it at a cheaper price. Those who can view the listings are on your saved sellers list only.
