eBay Glitch Adds Russia To Listing Form Instead of Removing It
eBay sellers using the Global Shipping Program are experiencing a glitch that is automatically checking the box on the listing form to add Russia as an accepted shipping location.
The glitch may be related to eBay's recent announcement about blocking all transactions to Russia. Affected users also report attempting to bulk edit to remove Russia does not work, if they come back later, that box is checked again.
While it appears to be only affecting what sellers see in the listing form, not the shipping options actually shown to buyers, it's still causing a lot of confusion and concern for sellers - did eBay's automated process to block Russia across the site have some unintended consequences?
I have been going through some of my listings to revise them, & I ship globally & their is a section to add services, But I NEVER check any boxes, because I figure if ebay sells there they would let me know, But I don't offer any countries specifically, But as I'm revising I'm noticing the box checked for ship to Russian Federation, & I have been unchecking it, But I don't know how many are affected, I hope I don't have to go through my entire Inventory, Is anyone else experiencing This??, & you should check if your not sure!
In the past week I accidentally noticed that under international shipping, "Offer another service, Additional ship to locations," the box for Russian Federation was checked on a listing. After checking my other listings I found that over half of them, about 40, also had the box checked.
I certainly had never checked the box for Russia. I find this very strange in light of the current situation & Russia being cut off from most commerce with other countries. Just curious, anyone else notice this showing up on their listings?
Yes, it seems something slipped when they were excluding Russian Federation from GSP and eBay international shipping. The person that I traded messages with didn't indicate and solution - she was looking for more examples than the one I had tagged.
I don't think it is really an issue as far as shipping to RF, since you can't ship there anyway, but I don't know what it did to the rest of the GSP settings
While there is no indication of nefarious intent and this is most likely a technical issue, it's understandable that tensions are high and sellers are extra concerned when strange things start happening.
I ship using E-Bay Global Shipping, but under other international shipping options, I always select "None". Yesterday I noticed that on nearly all my listings (250 of them), it had changed to this
So I did a bulk edit and changed them all back to "None". I opened several listings to check, and they had returned to saying "None". Now tonight, I find that many of my listings are back to having selected "Russian Federation". The screen shot above was from a listing that I changed to "None" yesterday, opened and confirmed it was set to none, and now this evening, it is back to selected Russian Federation.
Why are my international shipping options automatically changing from "None" to "Russian Federation"? And when I change them, why are they automatically reverting back?
eBay community rep Velvet responded on this thread and requested anyone affected should share screenshots and tag her.
It sounds like the shipping team will need screen shots, so if you come across anything similar to this, please try to have them get those before making edits. Be sure to tag one of us too so we can get those examples over to the shipping team. Thank you!
