eBay Sellers Miss Multi-Level Discounts In Apparent Sales Event Overhaul

eBay sellers have noticed a change in Sale Event markdowns removing the option to offer multiple tiered discount levels and they are not happy!

The old Sale Event option allowed sellers to create up to 10 levels of discount within a single event, with the ability to choose different inventory for each discount level.

But that seems to have changed sometime this week, with the Sale Event option now only allowing a single percent or dollar amount of each item included in the discount campaign.

As usual with these types of unannounced changes, it's not entirely clear if this is a test, glitch, or intentional change - but either way, sellers voiced their strong opinions about it in the eBay community forum.

The multi level discount sale event (one Discount Sale event that contains multiple percentages off) has been scrapped by ebay as another "improvement" AND without notice to Sellers.

This helpful feature from the Seller Hub has made consolidating discounts/markdowns easy for those who want to provide different levels of discounts for their items instead of making separate sale events for each percentage. When creating a sale event, there was an option to "add another discount level" (up to 10 levels).

Using this feature made it easy for those who have groups of items they want to put in a single sale event but want to discount certain items at one percentage and others at another, and so on.

For example: a Seller wants to run a Sale on handbags but wants to reduce the price of some to 10%, some to 15%, and some to 25%. Instead of creating three separate sale events, this could be achieved and streamlined with the multi level sale event.

This is now no longer the case - after hours of research, phone calls, and chats, it is apparent that ebay will no longer provide this feature.

Along with failing to announce the removal of this feature, none of the representatives knew it was gone until it was brought to their attention nor could they give a reason why it was removed.

It seems that keeping a small bit of coding is not worth keeping ebay's members who use it happy. If ebay felt it was underutilized, maybe that's because there were no tutorials on how to use it - or even advertisements that it existed, for that matter.

What's the point in subscribing to an store if they are continuously removing all the features that make it stand out from other platforms? These "improvements" only make ebay less and less desirable as a platform to sell on.

For those who have used the Multi-Level Discount Sale Event feature and wish to see it reimplemented, please reach out to ebay and give your feedback.

Other sellers chimed in, all expressing similar sentiments and their desire to see the multi-level discount option restored.

Longtime community member WastingTime101 provided helpful advice on how to submit feedback about the change directly to eBay.

I've seen multiple posts about this. Go to this page:

To the left of the blue create discount button on top right of page, there is a Comments link. Click on that to submit your feedback. This is a direct link:
