More new reports popping up in the community.

Notifications for sales I never made…
Hello, hopefully I’ve put this in the correct place for help. Last night I logged into eBay to just check how our current listings were doing. Last night I logged into eBay to just check how our current listings were doing. I noticed there were 28 notifications on the bell icon and when I clicked it there were tons of offers declined/cancelled, pay now, refunds and returns for all sorts of things I’ve never looked at or purchased like MacBooks and different phones. I clicked a couple of the notifications and nothing happened, additionally there was nothing in our summary page or emails about these bids and returns. I refreshed the page and they were gone…

Could my account have been hacked? Was this a glitch? Why was I able to see the bids and purchases of someone else? Was my account being used as a proxy to hid these purchases for a scammer?

Weird notifications
Hello. I just got some weird notifications of stuff I didn’t do (see photo). When I click on them, they disappear, but sometimes come back when I go to a different page. I thought my account had been hacked or something, but I can see no other signs of that. I changed my password anyway. Anyone…

Anyone have any idea what happened?

Re: Notifications not from my account
This just started happening to me as well, I am seeing multiple outbid notifications and offers received but they are not anything I sell or anything I have bid on. Its very weird.

This issue has been happening for over a month now and eBay has yet to address it.

It would seem the tech led reimagination has run off the rails or eBay is experiencing a major security incident - either way, they need to come clean and communicate with users about what is really going on here.

UPDATE 10-20-22

This issue appears to be ongoing with new reports popping up in the eBay community.

Getting notifications that belong to someone else
Just woke up to 20+ notifications that belong to someone else. These notifications are asking me to pay for items I’ve never seen before, and I’m getting spammed by seller offers also for items I’ve never seen before.

eBay community staff have been alerted to the issue and opened a ticket, but have not provided any follow up information.

I've seen multiple reports today from eBay users who are seeing messages, bid notifications and items in cart that they did not add themselves and that appear to belong to random unassociated user accounts - yikes! 🤯

Ebay sending outbid notifications for items i am not bidding on.
**bleep**? I am not currently bidding on anything! I am also getting notifications about watch list items which are not in my watch list.

bleep?

Notifications not from my account
So yesterday I reported issue with false 90 notifications I received. This issue was quickly resolved. Today I have the same issue. So yesterday I reported issue with false 90 notifications I received. This issue was quickly resolved. Today I have the same issue. Notifications are of items I sold or that need refunding etc but the products don’t belong to me. I never sold such items. My impressions and views are very very low today and account is glitchy. It takes a long time to respond after I tap something.

I have no idea what is going on here, whether this is a hacked account security issue or a technical issue simply crossing wires somewhere, but it's certainly alarming to see user data mixed up in this way - similar to past examples where a seller was shown an unrelated seller's account information and data in Seller Hub.

Seller Questions eBay Log In Security, Shown Other User’s Data
eBay seller raises security concern after log in glitch showed another unrelated user’s account information & data.

I'll update as soon as I have more information but in the mean time, let us know in the comments below if you're seeing eBay items in your cart or notifications that aren't yours!

Well, interesting post. I found your site as I was searching for possible reasons for an error I had noticed on my eBay’s iPhone app notification. It WAS an item in my watch list, but the notification on my iPhone said the current bid was $X but when I clicked to look at the listing, it’s currently still showing a highest bid at least a few hundred dollars less. And there was a new bidder who had just made a bid. I wish I hadn’t pressed on the notification as it’s now gone forever so no way to take a screenshot. My “suspicion” is maybe some bug in the system has accidentally revealed the new bidder’s highest bid amount?! Dunno but have never seen anything like that. Though having read your post and others’ experiences, my speculation may not be too far fetched…

An update to this situation - Today I will return to Above Average but this last month cost me a 91.8% reduction in impressions, 53.8% drop in listing page views, and 78% drop in revenue as well as paying an additional 6% final value fee on the sales I made. I was fortunate I had some higher value items sell this last week or my revenue numbers would have been well into the 80%.

eBay has responded to my BBB complaint twice. The first time they told me that I deserved below standard because my shipping scans were below the threshold. However, I had to quote their own website to them saying that shipping numbers cannot lead to downgrade to Below Standard.

The second response they just said I would be restored on May 20th completely ignoring the issue at hand, admitting an issue existed, or offering any type of solution.

If this concerns you, this happened to you, or worried it may happen, please take action. In fact, take action anytime eBay is doing somethning wrong. They will change nothing if you don't say anything. If enough people speak up, they do make changes.

The entire process needs to be overhauled. The numbers that make up their threshold seem to be arbitrary and it does not take a lot to get downgraded. I sell hundreds of items a month but only 3 defects will cause a downgrade. Then, it takes up to a week to get a defect removed from the time you submit an appeal, sometimes have to argue your case, them granting it, and then another two days for the system to catch up. It is beyond ridiculous.

Promoted Listings has changed the game and removing the ability for someone to promote not only cost eBay the revenue, it makes a persons listings invisible. Today is my last day Below Standard and I will finish with 91.8% reduction in impressions, 53.8% drop in listing page views, and 78% drop in revenue.

Your fortunate to get the negative feedback removed. I just had to escalate to the customer service team getting a couple removed where the customer did not read the listing and one complained a part was not included that wasn't being sold and the other didn't read that the vacuum had an issue requiring repair. My appeals were denied without explanation. I have not had them remove feedback since they changed the process over a year ago. I have to escalate to social media and they fight me on it every time.

Most importantly - please take action. Submit feedback on their website, contact the social media team on Facebook, or however you prefer. These issues will remain if we just stay quiet. I let this go before, not this time. Today I will return to Above Average but I am fighting this until something changes.

@ConcernedExEbayer I haven't heard of anyone being banned for disabling AI data collection, but definitely interested if you have more details!
