eBay community staff updated the Ongoing Technical Issues post today for users to keep tracking of known reported issues as well as ticket numbers to reference when contacting support.

Kudos to the team for the update, though it is more than a bit concerning to see how long some of these tickets have remained open - one of them is almost a year old!😲

The post also provides a history of some of the issues that have already been resolved and again, the times involved on some of these are more than a little concerning. In some cases it looks like issues took 5-6 months+ to be fixed.

A few excerpts

The below issues have since been resolved. We will leave them up for at least a month but after that, they will be removed in an attempt to keep this post clean and current....

  • Sellers receiving sold listing email sent by eBay that shows incorrect date of purchase (September 3, 2022 - December 13, 2022)
  • Buyers unable to process PayPal checkout (October 30, 2022 - December 13, 2022)
  • Members have zero views on active listings (November 10, 2022 - December 15, 2022)
  • Final value fees not charged on the sold item (November 24, 2022 - December 12, 2022)
  • Member not able to leave feedback for buyers (September 22, 2022-October 26, 2022)
  • Seller unable to respond to question. Getting error message that it's more than 90-days old when it's not (March 24, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Buyer is getting error when checking out showing "Unfortunately seller will not ship to your location" (April 19, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Some Orders are missing from purchase history (April 6, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Member getting an error when trying to search an item in eBay app (April 27, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Video upload stuck in 'under review' status and not being posted in members listings (June 10, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Member is seeing USPS Short paid fees for shipping label on their account with no details (June 2, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Unable to locate the order in purchase history (May 17, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • US- 14 day returns policy not supported (July 14, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • View Item page is not showing the correct sold and available items on account (July 7, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Item description is not visible on Mobile app (August 10, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Offer sent by seller is showing incorrect amount to buyers (July 23, 2022 - October 11, 2022) - Edit 8/12/2022: Hope to have a fix rolled out in the next week or so. In the meantime, there appears to be a trick to let you know if the amount is going to change or not. It will mean going a bit more slowly, but after you enter the offer, you can wait until you see the preview of the offer amount in green on the right side of the screen. Only after you see the preview and are ok with the amount entered, would you then click ‘Send offers’.
  • Sellers not receiving payout from September 17th and 18th (September 20, 2022 - October 11, 2022)
  • Seller unable to make partial refund (June 21, 2022 - August 4, 2022)

It also seems odd that with all of these ongoing technical issues collected in the eBay Community (where many people may not see them), none of the issues appear to be reflected in eBay's publicly facing System Status page. 🤨

I can't believe they didn't include the issue with art (as well as another category or two, I believe) with the subject "nudes" being restricted to the "adult only" category (which no longer exists). This has been going on since at least early September. I've spoken to them on the phone at least six times just about that one issue. A few of these calls were over an hour long and involved multiple supervisors. Some have said it's a known issue, while others seemed to have no clue. I have a pending Better Business Bureau complaint about the issue. Twice (once through BBB), I was told it was resolved, but it has never been resolved (nor is this a problem that comes and goes - this has been a consistent issue since I first noticed it). I did get credited for a bit more than three months of my store payments, but it has now been longer than that that this issue has been going on. To clarify, my listings are in compliance with eBay's policies on nude art, and eBay is not disputing that fact. Other sellers with the exact same prints ARE showing in search because they are VIOLATING eBay's policies by NOT entering "nudes" as the subject. As an unrelated observation, look at eBay's post referenced in this article. Look at the time it took to get each issue resolved, then look at how quickly (at least by comparison) they dealt with the issue of fees not being charged!

Absolutely agree with other people here - this Ebay "simple postage" is a wheeze to squeeze more out of private sellers. I live walking distance to the post office (2 minute walk) and it's 4 miles to my local Evri drop off point. I don't have a car. So will have to opt for Royal Mail only - which in turn adds an extra few pence to the postage. Previously a 2nd mail parcel was £3.25, with this it's going to be an increase of nearly 50%. The biggest increase is for the 1-2kg parcels, which previously qualified as small parcels.

As many of the items I sell are £10 or less, this makes it not worth the bother and I'll probably have to give it away to the charity shop.

Add that to the "buyer protection" fee they've added on - and the costs are making it untenable for people trying to clear the house, or make a few bob from old bits and pieces. Not happy at all and there doesn't seem to be a way of opting out.

The sooner these sleazebags at the top can be got rid of, or some community-run buy/sell/swap sites come up - the better. We don't need ebay.
