Sellers are eagerly awaiting details of eBay's big 30th anniversary event, slated to take place sometime in August 2025!

The company first revealed that eBay Open 2025 would be an in person event at the end of last year's virtual conference, with US GM Dawn Block and SVP Global GM Jordan Sweetnam breaking the exciting news.

Jordan: We have a big birthday coming up next year. eBay is turning 30 years old. And to commemorate the moment and to recognize the sellers that make everything possible every year, we're excited to announce that we're planning a large, in-person eBay Open event to celebrate our 30th anniversary in 2025.

Dawn: That is amazing news. We're so excited to get everyone together in-person next year. For folks who remember eBay Live or our eBay Open events in the past, we hope to recapture that magical feeling again next year.

We'll of course continue to offer a virtual version of the event so everyone can still attend and follow along just like now. We'll be sharing more details about our plans in the new year, but for now, we hope that you're as excited as we are to get together in-person next year.

eBay then opened up a 30th Anniversary Group in the community forum for sellers to follow for updates and reminisce about eBay live events past - though there have been no further official posts in the group and sellers have been starting to get concerned that they won't have time to work out timing and financing for travel plans.

Welcome to eBay’s 30th Anniversary Group
As announced during eBay Open 2024, eBay’s 30th anniversary is next year, and we will be hosting eBay Open 2025 live and in-person alongside our virtual event! Use this group to express your excitement, share your past experiences at eBay Open, and reminisce about your favorite memories and mileston…

Some sellers suspected the details would be announced as part of the Spring Seller Update on March 7th and they were partially correct - Director Seller Community and Engagement Rebecca Michals teased that the event will be taking place in August but did not reveal an exact date, location or any other information.

That doesn't leave much time for sellers to make plans - especially considering August may fall right in peak back to school time in many parts of the country.

Stay tuned for updates as we learn more and let us know in the comments below where you hope eBay Open 2025 will be!

I am a U.S. eBay seller who created my account in 2020. For the last five months, I have been subject to having my payment held until three days after delivery. Customer service has given me different explanations for why this is happening. One representative said it was part of a new rollout, while another blamed the eBay algorithm and assured me everything would return to normal. I have a 99.7% feedback rating, with over 3,600 items sold, and I always resolve any disputes. Having over $3,000 perpetually held restricts my cash flow. The fact that tracking does not consistently update for some items—like those sent in a PWE—means I will not get paid until 30 days after the transaction. This whole process is a headache. I appreciate this informative and well-written article.

Lovely today with that. A certain forum member mentioned moderators actions and had nothing more than their post removed. When I previously did, I was banned again.

Is this supposed to be good? Its one small step for the AI to ban what it doesn't approve. This is an unfolding dystopian nightmare.
