eBay Report Buyer Form No Longer Includes False INR Claims - Stealth Change Or Glitch?

eBay sellers have noticed they no longer have an option to report buyers who file false Item Not Received claims, wondering if it's yet another stealth unannounced change or simply a glitch.

Ebay changed the “report a buyer” process....no option to report for INR claims now?
So one of Ebay’s policies is you can report a buyer for opening an INR claim when the tracking shows the item had already been delivered. We do indeed do this as it frequently will get those cases removed from the service metrics for INR. I just did this last a few weeks ago. However, it seems in…

So one of Ebay's policies is you can report a buyer for opening an INR claim when the tracking shows the item had already been delivered. We do indeed do this as it frequently will get those cases removed from the service metrics for INR. I just did this last a few weeks ago.

However, it seems in the last 2 weeks they have completely changed around the report a buyer process. I don't even see an option to report them for this reason now (even though all the other reasons for reporting a buyer are still there).....even though the abusive buyer policy clearly still states that is against policy to open an INR when tracking confirms delivery.

I can confirm - the design of the Report A Buyer process has changed and I'm not seeing any options related to Item Not Received claims any more.

And as that poster points out, eBay's policy pages still list making false INR claims as something which is "not allowed" and should be reported under the Abusive Buyer guidelines.

An eBay community staff member responded to the post, saying they found a sitewide alert for a different issue impacting the Report A Buyer function that may indicate this issue is also related to that technical problem.

I found that there was an alert (ALERT15693) opened yesterday for issues with reporting buyers. It was more specifically about getting an error message, rather than not seeing the option, but I have a pretty good hunch that these are directly related to the same root issue.

That's not exactly a confident answer though and it certainly wouldn't be the first time a stealth policy update was made on one page but not updated on other pages at the same time.

I'll keep an eye out for a more definitive answer - in the meantime, let us know in the comments below if you're receiving errors when trying to report buyers or don't see any option to report false INRs!

Absolutely agree with other people here - this Ebay "simple postage" is a wheeze to squeeze more out of private sellers. I live walking distance to the post office (2 minute walk) and it's 4 miles to my local Evri drop off point. I don't have a car. So will have to opt for Royal Mail only - which in turn adds an extra few pence to the postage. Previously a 2nd mail parcel was £3.25, with this it's going to be an increase of nearly 50%. The biggest increase is for the 1-2kg parcels, which previously qualified as small parcels.

As many of the items I sell are £10 or less, this makes it not worth the bother and I'll probably have to give it away to the charity shop.

Add that to the "buyer protection" fee they've added on - and the costs are making it untenable for people trying to clear the house, or make a few bob from old bits and pieces. Not happy at all and there doesn't seem to be a way of opting out.

The sooner these sleazebags at the top can be got rid of, or some community-run buy/sell/swap sites come up - the better. We don't need ebay.
