eBay Spams Sellers With Pitch To List Luxury Watches
eBay sellers who have never sold or bought watches on the site are being inundated with unsolicited spam messages trying to entice them to list in this important (to eBay) focus vertical category.
I have received this message for 5 days straight from Ebay.....I have NEVER sold a watch on Ebay and have no plans to. I can understand them sending it to me ONCE....but 5 days in a row?? Very irritating. Anyone else being bombarded with this?
Doesn't matter what I do, the email regarding selling luxury watches on Ebay hits my inbox every day. How do I get them to stop? And yes, I have tried the usual already.
Excessive EBay promotional messages. I keep getting Buy and Sell Luxury watches. I have NO INTEREST. How can I get the Bot to Stop.
I just wanted to vent. In the past week I must have received four of these emails from eBay. I HAVE NO WATCHES TO SELL - LEAVE ME ALONE.
Why 4 days in a row does eBay send me exact same luxury watch selling information email? I have never ever sold a luxury watch before on eBay.
Doesn’t concern me! 1 email ok but 4 in 4 days? Spam…
I got them as well in my messages. I would no more sell a luxury watch on eBay than I would sell any other luxury high dollar item. I am not interested in entering the "Scam Kingdom" that seems to be dominating the e commerce sites.
SAME THING! Sick of getting SPAM messages from eBay to begin with but I have NEVER Sold a watch or jewelry so no idea how they figured I needed ONE of these messages... much less 4 in FOUR DAYS!
I'm getting that message two at a time for the last couple of days.
I don't sell jewelry, I don't look at "luxury watches", I don't look at or read those messages.
Maybe that's their Christmas advertising, advertise to us and not to the 'general public'.
Don't know what ebay's top tips are, but ours is one word - Don't.
And sending us that 'top tips' message five days in a row is not gonna get us to sell something we wouldn't sell when they [watches] were treated the same as everything else, let alone now with your new improved simplified twelve step to list program. Same thing with purses, sneakers, car stuff and trading cards.
MAYBE when xmas and easter fall on the same Tuesday in June we MIGHT think about contemplating the idea of discussing about maybe listing one of those things.
An eBay community staff member responded on October 16 saying they were sharing examples with the correct team.
I have seen someone else mentioned this and I will have this example shared with the correct team as well!
However, apparently none of these reports have been communicated to frontline customer service as @askeBay on Twitter was completely unaware of the issue on October 18.
And the spam has continued through today as well, despite mounting reports from sellers who clearly have no desire to receive it.
eBay reinstated the "report message" feature last year, which does allow users to report spam or inappropriate messages, but it's only available for messages sent by other users - eBay opted themselves out.
Since some sellers are indicating their settings to opt out of marketing emails are being ignored, I'd suggest reporting eBay to the FTC for violating the CAN-SPAM Act.
