UPDATE 2-22-25

eBay has finally acknowledged this Standard Envelope tracking issue, saying they are working to resolve the problem and will provide protections for impacted sellers.

Sellers who use eBay Standard Envelope shipping service for small inexpensive items like trading cards are reporting major problems with tracking over the last few weeks which could get expensive if buyers file claims.

Ebay Standard Envelope Status No Longer being Updated

I've noticed that since about 2/1/2025 that the Ebay Standard Envelopes are no longer having the tracking information updated on eBay.

Is this a problem on eBay Side or is the USPS no longer providing the information?

How will the insurance work in the event of the claim when the package never shows received by the USPS?

eBay Standard Envelope tracking has stopped working all together

Going as far back as the 7th not a single eBay Standard Envelope has tracked causing problems already...Some have already been delivered and positive feedback received. Others have buyers demanding us to ship their item because no tracking has occurred...

...the problem is USPS or eBay's connection with USPS. We've been using it since it came out and you can get a skip one in 10 or 15 times as expected but then they show up somewhere along the route a few days later.

We're looking at 100% missing rate right now with nothing showing up anywhere and the fact that some are even delivered with positive feedback shows a failure through the entire system.

Have the same issue! For me, any envelopes that are in transit was last updated on Wednesday Feb 12. My Feb 13 & 14 shipments have had zero scans since I've dropped them off. There is definitely something either on USPS's end or eBay's end that is causing an issue.

Some people on this forum keeps insisting that it's either "poor" packaging or just your general missed scans, which I do NOT believe is the issue. As someone who has used eBay standard envelope for over 2 years, I've had the occasional missed scans here and there, but nothing on this scale where everything has stopped updating/scanning.

Sellers on Reddit say the issue is starting to impact their accounts as buyers are filing Item Not Received claims since eBay is not updating the tracking.

I do a lot of sales of Trading Cards, shipped via eBay Standard Envelopes. For the last couple weeks, these stopped receiving any kind of tracking updates whatsoever.

This creates a situation that buyers seem to be able to take advantage of, because they’re getting delivered with no reflection of delivery in the tracking.

I’ve had my first few INR cases float in today. Anyone have any idea what’s going on? I am going to contact support when I can catch a spare moment.

As a workaround, some suggest using parcelsapp.com, which reportedly still works to show accurate tracking and delivery updates for eBay Standard Envelope shipments.

Universal Parcel Tracking - Global Package Tracking
Parcel Tracking Worldwide. Track Parcel in USA. Global postal tracking from eBay, AliExpress, ASOS, Shein, Amazon. Tracking packages from China, UK, Germany

eBay has not yet acknowledged the issue or provided a timeline for a fix, leaving both sellers in the dark and at the mercy of buyers if an item not received claim is filed.

It is Slowwwwwww and is more expensive to the buyer. In the past items I have ordered will sit at the hub for around 2 weeks. I avoid ebay unless I cannot get it elsewhere.

Hi, I have a friend who had an interesting experience recently that fell under this issue. They sold an item, packed and dispatched to the UK Ebay hub, this was midway through the period as the pause occurred. They then received a message from the buyer that they had checked tracking and discovered that the item had disappeared on ebay, no advice. It then turned out that the tracking had been fudged and the package was with them but not forwarded on to the USA. A few hours of to and fro to get the answer that it was due to the tariff dilemma. NO fault of the buyer(who had paid) or the seller ((who had been paid) and a strange response that the item could not be delivered. The buyer would be refunded in full, the seller would keep payment and the item would not be returned. Strange, Ebay must be hurting paying our both sides of the deal+

  1. Start building out the brand and promoting the heck out of Canadian sellers to our domestic market. Work with Federal/Provincial level governments in the push to build a strong presence here in Canada.

  2. Add other calculated shipping options than Canada Post UPS/FedEx for domestic shipping - partner with couriers nationwide, leverage agreements and software integrations with courier reseller platforms such as Stallion Express. Build out a crowd sourced network using national/regional retail locations as drop points for rural regions, leveraging transport networks to move packages to courier pickup points, akin to the UK courier model but adapted to the Canadian realities.

  3. Create a centralized international shipping clearing house to aide micro businesses with affordable shipping rates and customs clearance to avoid pitfalls and complexities (akin to US eIS).

  4. Bring features forward to the platform from other localizations, such as prepaid best offer acceptance, etc.
