eBay Summer 2024 Seller Update Set For June 26th
UPDATE 6-26-24
eBay's 2024 Seller Update is here with marketing & advertising changes, reporting & payment updates, international shipping, regulations & more!
UPDATE:
Predictably, eBay did choose to compound the problem by deleting that forum post...good thing we have the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. 😉
Heads up eBay sellers - the Summer 2024 Seller Update is set to drop tomorrow, June 26th!
eBay normally doesn't give a heads up to average users on seller updates but apparently they do give community mentors advanced notice - which one of those mentors has provided in a public forum post.
On Wednesday, June 26th, eBay will be releasing the Summer Seller Update. This Seller Update focuses on new features for promoting your inventory, improved tools to help amplify your business, and the latest on need-to-know regulations.
We wanted to give you a heads up because as leaders in the seller community, we know that it's helpful if you are aware when an update is coming.
One update we wanted to highlight is that Venmo will now be accepted on eBay!
Once buyers have linked their Venmo account to their eBay account, they can sail through checkout in one click without manually entering their payment details in subsequent transactions, which means higher conversion and more sales for you. More information will be provided tomorrow.
Summer Seller Update information will be live on Seller Center on Wednesday morning plus will be emailed to all sellers that day.
There will be Community boards for each topic, staffed with customer support to answer questions about Seller Update.
Please feel free to share this information with sellers you know, once you see the Summer Seller Update live on Wednesday morning. As always, thanks for selling on eBay.
Community mentors are volunteers and not eBay employees, though they do receive special briefings and exclusive access to staff.
But many believe the mentor program also serves as a "buffer" allowing eBay to avoid direct seller engagement or accountability for information being attributed to an official eBay source.
For example, some sellers raised an eyebrow at a recent post by a different community mentor that revealed a new way to report "ghost listing" problems, saying that eBay refusing to address the issue officially was "shady" and "manipulative."
While I'm sure sellers will appreciate this heads up, the wording of the email makes it clear it was not intended for public consumption until tomorrow, which is bound to raise even more questions and concerns about the mentor program - like this:
Thanks for posting........tho I fear you may regret it......
Ebay just can't help shooting themselves in the foot.........
We wanted to give you a heads up because as leaders in the seller community, we know that it's helpful if you are aware when an update is coming.
Sellers have been asking for notice for 20+ yrs........now, they classify some sellers are more important than others as far as info is concerned?
Wonder if they will compound the problem and remove the post......and then all the subsequent posts.....lol I certainly have a screen shot of it.
