UPDATE 3-29-23

The mystery has been solved - the sneakers team buried a short demo at the end of their break out session from the recent Spring Seller Check In.

eBay announced today they are simplifying the mobile listing experience for "select" collectible sneakers...but you'll just have to guess which ones and what the new experience actually looks like. 🤦‍♀️

The vague and mysterious announcement was posted in the eBay community:

We’re testing a simplified mobile listing experience for collectible sneakers

We’re now testing a new mobile listing experience in the eBay App for eligible collectible sneakers under select brands, listed under Men’s and Women’s Athletics Shoes. The new flow will make listing and selling on eBay faster and easier, with pre-filled item specifics, photo guidance, and streamlined shipping options.

The new listing experience will roll out in phases. During the initial phase, select sellers will be automatically opted-in. We welcome feedback and we'll continue to improve the new listing experience.

We’ll update you as we expand eligibility and participation in the new listing experience.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

The eBay Team

Thanks eBay Team but you might have gotten a better response if you provided some screenshots, or a video demo or.....something?

How about even the slightest hint about which brands and or specific collectible sneakers that are eligible?

Oh and by the way team, there's nothing eBay sellers love more than being automatically opted into your tests without warning - especially when it comes to the listing experience. 😉

I guess that means I'll just have to do some investigating and figure out the details myself to share with sellers. Stay tuned!

This article was written three months when the GSP rates went up, then back down (but not all the way to where they had been previously) due to a glitch and/or tariff changes at that time.

The rates have now gone back up again because the de minimis exemption for items made in China ended on May 2, 2025 - and it also appears that if the seller didn't specify the Country of Origin, eBay may be defaulting to the assumption that it was made in China for the purposes of calculating the duties for the Global Shipping Program.

Its definitely not a glitch ive lost out on £800 in just a couple of days because ebay shipping is trying to charge US buyers $200 just for shipping on a dress. And its still not gone down. Im fed up and going to just delist. Im starting to think ebay are trying to play a dirty politics game

On April 30th, the last day of no listing fees, I checked my main category, action figures, and there were approximately 155K listings. Today there are 115K listings, a 40,000 drop in inventory. Of course I closed my shop with a few hundred items listed, looks like others did the same. Will be interesting to check back in a week or a month after people start getting bills for listing fees and see what happens.
