eBay is putting their 2023 investment in The Volte to good use, partnering with the fashion rental platform to offer Buy, Wear, Rent or Sell solution for fashion lovers in Australia.

The new program has launched with Australian brand Pfeiffer, offering an easy one click option integrated into Pfeiffer's onsite shopping experience which will streamline shoppers' ability to resell or rent out the items they are purchasing.

Here's how it works:

Buy, wear, rent or sell. Seamlessly. | eBay.com.au
Make money from your investment in fashion. We’ll send you notifications to link your purchase to your Volte or eBay account.

How to resell seamlessly

  • Tick It - Tick the box at checkout to automatically prep a listing for your purchase and have it save to your eBay or The Volte account
  • Check It - We'll send you an email to help you link your accounts, as well as all the info you need for when you're ready to rent or resell.
  • Wear It - Relish every wear knowing it's ready to instantly, seamlessly list whenever you're ready.
  • List It - The tedious part is already taken care of, so all you need to do is post your listing, sit back and effortlessly earn money from your wardrobe.

The Volte posted similar details on their site as well, with users encouraged to use eBay if they want to sell their items and The Volte if they simply want to rent them out.

eBay led the series A funding round for The Volte in 2023 with a $4 Million investment and has continued to partner with and support the company as they've expanded to the UK.

When entering a UPC code in certain categories, eBay will ask if I want to use the catalog entry, 99% of the time I say no, because most of the item details are completely wrong. Even after clicking no, if I go back to that listing later to edit it, I will find the catalog data has been added to my listing without my permission. Why does eBay do this? If a buyer was to file a case on one of these erroneous item details, would eBay have my back? Definitely not.

This is infuriating! I spend plenty of money on eBay. I don't need their suggested or sponsored listings. I just need to be able to search and browse in a conventional, linear way. These constant changes are going to end with me spending less, rather than more on eBay's platform.

I remember when you could just call the seller and chat. Send a check etc. It's only going to get worse - if that's possible.
