eBay Updates Sellers On USPS Ground Advantage Shipping

With about a week before USPS Ground Advantage shipping change takes effect, eBay sellers are confused about what changes they need to make to listings & when - and conflicting info from community staff is not helping.

eBay has posted an update for sellers ahead of the rollout of the new USPS Ground Advantage shipping service that is replacing First Class Package, Retail Ground, and Parcel Select services effective July 9, 2023.

Sellers will need to pay close attention as manual updates to listings or shipping policies may be necessary depending on what levels of service you previously used.
The United States Postal Service is consolidating its ground shipping options by combining USPS Retail Ground®, First-Class-Package®, and Parcel Select Ground® into a single service: USPS Ground Advantage™.
Here’s what to expect on eBay beginning July 9th:
Printing labels on eBay
We’ll update labels automatically. If you had a sale with First-Class Package or Parcel Select Ground, the label will print and display as USPS Ground Advantage™.
If you printed your label prior to July 9th, USPS will continue to accept packages with the previous services for a period of time.Updating your listings on eBay
- Listings with Parcel Select Ground will automatically be updated to reflect USPS Ground Advantage as the shipping service.
- Only First-Class Package services are moving to Ground Advantage. First Class Mail for letters and envelopes will remain unchanged.
- If you ship with First Class Package, you will need to update listings to USPS Ground Advantage over the next 30 days. Business policies will also need to be updated.
- If you ship letters and envelopes with First Class Mail, no changes will be required.
- Listings with Retail Ground will need to be updated to USPS Ground Advantage.

Do I need to update the shipping service in my listings and business policies?
In most cases, yes. Listings with the following USPS services will need to be updated to select USPS Ground Advantage
- First-Class Package Service
- Retail Ground
- Parcel Select Ground if offered in addition to First-Class Package Service and/or Retail Ground
These changes can be applied starting July 9. We recommend that you make these updates as soon as possible in order to keep your shipping information up-to-date for buyers.
If my listings and business policies only show Parcel Select Ground as a shipping service, do I need to update to USPS Ground Advantage?
No. If your listings and business policy has Parcel Select Ground as the sole shipping service, the service name will be changed to USPS Ground Advantage starting July 9.What services will need to be updated to USPS Ground Advantage in my listings and business policies?
Any listing with one or more of the following services from July 9:
- First Class Package Service
- Retail Ground Service
Is First-Class Mail service included in USPS Ground Advantage?
No. USPS will continue to support First-Class Mail as a stand-alone service.Will USPS Ground Advantage fly offshore?
Yes. USPS Ground Advantage will fly to/from/throughout offshore destinations as a 2-5 service whereas PSG currently travels by boat and is a 2-8 day service.Will there be packaging available for USPS Ground Advantage?
