Beyond the NYC event, Etsy has released details about their plans to make the most of the holidays and support sellers during this crucial shopping season.

How we’re supporting you this holiday season
Hi, Etsy sellers! The holiday season is upon us, and I know many of you are already hard at work preparing your shop for the busiest time of the year. I wanted to take a moment to let you know some of the ways we’ve also been hard at work supporting you and to share our plans to make this holiday se…

In addition to Gift Mode and Gift Teaser functionality introduced earlier this year, Etsy has been revamping the gift card experience on the site, removing ability for sellers to offer their own shop specific gift cards and leaving buyers with the only option being sitewide gift cards purchased directly from Etsy.

But now Etsy is expanding the gift card push, stocking physical Etsy gift cards at brick and mortar retail locations across the US.

Creating a one-of-a-kind gifting experience: Earlier this year, we told you about our vision to be the world’s best destination for gifting and why we believe this will help bring more buyers to Etsy more often. We’ve continued to invest in this area and are introducing new features and experiences that will take the stress out of holiday gifting:

  • We’ve created over 5,000 gift ideas that shoppers can explore based on who they are shopping for and what they are interested in. Buyers can also build gift lists, set reminders, and send personalized messages to their recipients.
  • We’re stocking physical Etsy gift cards in major pharmacies, grocery stores, and other retail locations in the US, creating new opportunities to bring more buyers to our marketplace and to your shop.
  • Throughout our app and homepage, we’re adding more ways for buyers to discover new categories, trends, and ideas so that they can better explore the millions of amazing items in our marketplace.

Etsy is planning a big holiday marketing campaign with tv ads, billboards, and more that will run in the US, UK, and Germany.

Unmissable marketing: A great shopping experience means nothing if we aren’t staying top of mind and reminding people why they should visit Etsy.

That’s why our holiday campaign highlights how gifts on Etsy (made, designed, or handpicked by YOU) go the extra mile in making people feel seen. We’re excited to share our TV ads, billboards, and more next week, which will run in the US, UK, and Germany to reach buyers at every stage of their gifting journey.

We’re also bringing the buzz and excitement this weekend to NYC with a special Holiday Pop-Up shop that will spotlight this season’s best gifts, including items from our Etsy Design Award winners.

And, just like last year, Etsy is temporarily increasing purchase protection for buyers and promising additional customer support for sellers during the busy holiday season.

Supporting you and your business: Beyond our efforts to bring you more buyers and sales, we are deeply committed to making it easier to manage and grow your business.

  • We’re providing more actionable insights than ever with our new Search Visibility Page, adding weekly tips and resources to our 2024 Holiday Hub, and helping you keep your shop safe with our newly updated Account Security Checklist.
  • As always, we’re here to help with live support available 24/7. During the holiday season, we’ll add hundreds more agents to our support team so you can get faster resolutions during this critical time. We’re also expanding access to chat in Shop Manager, so you can connect with us even more seamlessly.
  • We also have your back if something goes wrong. Once again this holiday season, we’re increasing Etsy Purchase Protection for sellers by covering refunds on qualifying orders up to $500 USD—double our regular coverage of up to $250 USD.*

*Qualifying orders based on criteria outlined as part of Etsy’s Purchase Protection program.

Orders placed from November 1, 2024 at 12am EST through December 31, 2024 at 11:59pm EST that are up to $500 USD (or local equivalent) and meet all other eligibility criteria will qualify for Etsy to cover the cost of refunds if a buyer doesn’t receive their order, it arrives damaged, or it doesn’t arrive within the seller’s estimated delivery dates.
