Mercari buyers and sellers are frustrated by temporary limits on offers as new fee update rolls out.

Users took to Reddit with concerns after receiving error messages when trying to make or respond to offers.

i tried buying half with my balance and half on my card. i’ve had some issues using my card irl but no issues buying online so i was confused, and once when my card declined on mercari it said “we could not confirm your card information” because i accidently used a one time klarna card, so i figured my card wasn’t declined??

i bought something else on mercari immediately after this message just to see if it was my card and it went through. i ended up just offering again and buying completely with my balance and it went through but i’m confused on what this meant?

No longer available offer in certain seller listing

Hi , since fee structure today. I am seller also a buyer . I want to buy that seller offer but it’s expired offer . Went to check the listing the offer was not available and only full price available. But few seller I check can still offer. How is that happening?

And also I want buyer to offer for my listing and worried they have similar problem what I encounter too. Anyone know how can I change the setting for my buyer? Or what should I do for my listing? . I am not sure if they can offer or not.

While the disruption is understandably frustrating, users should be aware it is a temporary issue which Mercari has warned may come up as they work to update listings to reflect their new fee structure starting today.

According to the FAQ, offers and bundled orders for international items from Beenos may be unavailable during the update:

What if I have an offer in progress?
Any offers sent prior to 2 PM PST on January 6, 2025 will automatically be canceled.

Why can’t I make an offer on some items?
Your ability to make an offer on listings with the old fee structure may be temporarily limited during the update. Offers will be available when the listing is updated.

Why am I unable to create a Bundled Order for Internationally Shipped Items?
Your ability to create bundled for Internationally Shipped listings with the old fee structure may be temporarily limited during the update. Internationally shipped bundles will be available when the listing is updated

There may also be delays in updating pricing and fees on listings, so Mercari has provided a grace period between January 6th and 12th to help facilitate a smooth transition.

With new fee changes coming on January 6th, Mercari provides automated tools to adjust pricing & grace period to facilitate a smooth transition.

And it appears many sellers missed the part in the FAQ about Bundles - bulk updating will not work on bundles and the new fee structure will apply automatically, even if you have not yet updated your pricing.

Is bulk price adjustment available for all listings?
No, this feature is not available for sold items, deleted listings, or bundles. Bundle orders placed after the fee structure change will use the new fee structure automatically.
