PayPal No Longer Available Payment Option On eBay?
UPDATE 7-10-23
PayPal appears to be experiencing another disruption that has caused it to be temporarily removed from eBay as a payment option.
As usual, you'll need to use a different payment method or wait for the PayPal issue to be resolved before checking out on eBay.
UPDATE 5-12-23
PayPal appears to be down again and I'm receiving new reports that it is not currently an available payment method on eBay.
As usual when this occurs, you'll need to use an alternate payment method on eBay or wait for the issue to be resolved.
UPDATE 2-3-23
I'm seeing a spike in reports of PayPal not being available on eBay again and it coincides with another spike of reports of PayPal being down all together.
PayPal's system status shows a current disruption impacting multiple products:
For now, you'll need to use an alternate payment method on eBay or wait for the issue to be resolved.
UPDATE 10-31-22
Reports once again of PayPal not showing as an available payment option on eBay listings or in eBay checkout. It looks like Down Detector is also once again showing problems at PayPal so I believe this is likely just another case of a temporary service disruption on the PayPal side.
I had previously suggested to eBay that if the API connection is broken and they can't process PayPal payments, they should grey out the option and provide a message that says something lke "service not currently available" rather than just remove it completely to avoid causing a panic - but so far they have not taken that suggestion.
In the meantime, until PayPal sorts out whatever the problem is, you'll either need to use a different payment method or wait to complete your eBay purchase until service is restored.
UPDATE 9-14-22
I'm receiving reports that once again, PayPal is not showing as an available option on eBay listings.
It looks like Down Detector is currently showing problems at PayPal and PayPal's Status page is showing API issues causing service disruptions for some products.
That's the most likely cause if you are currently unable to use PayPal on eBay, Etsy or other websites.
You may need to use alternate payment methods until the issue is resolved.
UPDATE 6-5-22
There appears to be another outage with eBay and Etsy users both reporting PayPal payments currently not working.

UPDATE 4-20-22
The issue appears to be resolved. PayPal is now showing as an available payment option on eBay listings again and DownDetector shows PayPal has been restored to normal service levels.
Sellers in the eBay community have noticed PayPal is suddenly no longer showing on their listings as an available payment option for buyers.
i tried to buy a few things today and i cannot the paypal option anywhere ? Can you help me with the issue ?
I'm wondering the same thing!!! They only option is Google pay or uploading a debit/credit card which I'm not going to do here.
There has been no announcement of any change in the payment processors accepted.
I looked at my own listings and there is no Paypal option.
When I checked one of my dotCA listings (I am a non-US seller and list on various sites including my home, Canada) not only was PP missing on both dotCA and dotCOM, but the Canadian site showed that payment could be made by Discover card, which is not accepted in Canada.
Looks like a nasty glitch.
I navigated to a random listing from the eBay home page and can confirm, the PayPal logo no longer shows in the payments section of listings.
I can also confirm if you add to cart and go to checkout, there is no option for PayPal.
The same thing happens on the eBay mobile app for Android - no options for PayPal available.
The issue is bubbling up on social media as well.
According to DownDector.com, PayPal is currently experiencing reported problems, but it's not clear if that is related to this issue or not.
The eBay System Status page is currently reflecting problems with Buying, though it does not call out this PayPal issue specifically.
I'll update as more information becomes available. If you're experiencing this issue, let us know in the comments below!
