Instrument Marketplace Reverb Launches Dark Mode App
Etsy-owned instrument marketplace Reverb has finally given musicians a break from the glaring spotlight, introducing dark mode in the iOS and Android app experiences.
Alright, alright—we've heard your jokes. You wear your sunglasses at night (so you can handle the harsh glare of the Reverb app), your optometrist is now on speed dial, and you'd trade all of the pedals you own for the sweet relief that only darkness can bring. Ha ha.
But honestly, we agree with you. And today, we're happy to deliver the relief our collective corneas have been craving: Dark Mode is now officially available in the Reverb app.
You can enable Dark Mode in your Reverb app by first making sure it's updated to version 6.0 (iOS) or 5.0 (Android) or higher. Then, navigate to the settings panel in My Reverb and select the Dark Mode option to enable it.
Maybe this new addition will put Reverb in the running for a Digiday/Modern Retail Best Ecommerce Experience award like eBay won for putting dark mode in their app back in 202o!
Unfortunately, 4 years later, eBay still hasn't figured out how to extend the magical dark experience to their desktop web design - despite it being a very often requested user experience enhancement.
I don't know about the rest of you but I spend so much time on eBay that the white background becomes a trigger for my migraines. On every other site I use they have the option for a "dark theme" display which I always keep on because my eyes can't handle all the white.
I don't know what the issue is but if every other website can offer a "dark theme" option for their site, why can't eBay?
It also looks better. It presents things like they're on a background of black velvet. Much like the displays in high end jewelry stores and auction houses.
It's WAY easier on the eyes, especially at night.
Instead of changing the font on the shipping label page with the next update, I believe this option would be a "crowning achievement" for the company. Something many of us would actually welcome, celebrate and USE!
Hopefully it won't take nearly as long for Reverb to get the message and offer dark mode on desktop as well as in the app experience.
And if dark mode is your jam - remember you can now toggle to Dark Mode on Value Added Resource too! 😎
