USPS has released proposed rate increases for Competitive products like Ground Advantage, Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express, effective January 19, 2025 if approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission.

WASHINGTON — Today, the Postal Service filed notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) for Shipping Services price changes to take effect January 19, 2025. The proposed adjustments were approved by the Governors of the USPS this week.

The change would raise Shipping Services prices approximately 3.2 percent for Priority Mail service and Priority Mail Express service, 3.9 percent for USPS Ground Advantage and 9.2 percent for Parcel Select.

Although Mailing Services price increases are based on the consumer price index, Shipping Services prices are primarily adjusted according to market conditions.

The governors believe these new rates will keep the Postal Service competitive while providing the agency with needed revenue. As we previously announced, the Postal Service will not be raising prices in January for our Mailing Services.

The breakdown of proposed price increases for January 2024 can be downloaded in spreadsheets from the USPS Postal Explorer Site at:  https://pe.usps.com/PriceChange/Index

As usual, sellers will also have to consider the costs of fees on the increasing shipping as well since eBay, Etsy and other marketplaces charge their selling fees on the total including shipping - which means any time there's a shipping increase, it's a de facto fee windfall for the marketplaces too.

Thanks for publishing these charts.

Every USPS increase has resulted in me adjusting prices upwards for affected items. My margins are already shaved to the bone. More expensive items = fewer sales. Can't say I blame folks.

USPS is pricing itself into an uncompetitive position. Doesn't management care? For some items, UPS Surepost has lately been a better deal than USPS. But I understand that USPS has pulled the rug out from UPS on that, so uncertain how much longer that will remain an option.

The only winner under these increases, beyond USPS, is eBay and other marketplaces that take a percentage cut of shipping. Free money. Happy times at Walkers West / The Sellar.

Idk if this’ll help anyone else, but I’ve just come up with a fix for my issue using Brave as a web browser.

My issue is that more & more listings I come across no longer seem to have a description available ~anywhere~ on their desktop web page and it’s been driving me CRAZY!! I just now thought to try toggling off Brave’s "Shields" function button, and BAM. Descriptions are back, baby. 😎

Do I feel a wee bit stupid? …Maybe. (Should’ve thought to try that sooner. Hindsight, blahblahbl—) HOWEVER! Should I have to turn off my lovely web browser’s security/privacy features just to peruse eBay listings? Absolutely not.

(Glad to find this article, even if it wasn’t 100% tied to what my latest issue was. Something has definitely been afoot within eBay, that’s for sure. 🤔)

Can you imagine if Jamie Iannone had account for every minute he worked during the day, and if he couldn't, then he would not get paid?
