Promoted Listings Appear In 60+ Places On The eBay Network?
The eBay Ads team posted on Twitter and the eBay community today, drawing attention to all the places across the eBay network where your Promoted Listings ads may surface.
Over the past several months, our Promoted Listings portfolio has expanded to include several different campaign types to help sellers get their listings seen across eBay. But as our portfolio expands, one of the most common questions we hear from you is "where do my Promoted Listings show up on eBay"? It’s a great question that we’d like to help answer.
Our latest blog shows where you can expect to see your Promoted Listings Standard campaigns appear across the eBay network.
Standard campaigns are eligible to appear in over 60 locations across the eBay network, including product pages and search results on both mobile and desktop. How high they appear in the results depends on a variety of factors such as ad rate, listing quality, relevancy and other competing listings.
One savvy seller noted that neither the community post nor the linked blog post actually showed or told sellers where exactly those 60+ placements really are - instead only providing an image highlighting 2 placements.
Am I missing something? According to the blog post, PLS can appear on 60 + placements on the ebay network (both on ebay and off ebay). I assumed the blog post would provide some details about the 60 plus locations, but instead the post shows me ....two placements.
Is there another link I should be clicking?
In the last few months, I've taken a deep look (without an ad blocker) at eBay sponsored search placement and how ads are displayed on listing pages.
I found on average eBay carves out ~52 ad slots on every listing page - maybe the ads team is counting each ad spot individually? 🤯
While the ads team of course wants to present those 60+ ad placements across the network as nothing but upside, it would behoove sellers and eBay leadership to consider how the ad stuffing may negatively affect the buyer experience.
